Motorcycle Run to Bring New Winter Coats to Delaware County Children
CHADDS FORD, PA – On Saturday, November 23rd Hannum’s Harley Davidson and the Harley Owner’s Group Association (H.O.G.) will rally bikers and antique/classic car enthusiasts for the 9th Annual Ride for Operation Warm. The event collects donations of brand new, tags-on coats for elementary school aged children in Delaware County whose families are struggling to meet basic needs. Riders will gather at Brandywine Harley-Davidson of Chadds Ford at 9:00am for an 11:00am Kickstand Up! ride to Riddle Hospital in Media. The coats will later be given to children at Riddle Hospital’s Annual Children’s Party, an event which warms hearts, minds, and bodies. “Hannum’s is proud to lead this exciting and worthwhile event each year,” said Tonda DiPasquale, co-owner of Hannum’s Harley Davidson. “Bikers are extremely kind and generous people, as is evidenced by the hundreds of brand new coats that are donated to Operation Warm each year.”
Each year, riders are asked to bring a brand new, tags-on coat to the event and deliver it to Riddle at the ride’s conclusion. This year riders will also have the option of purchasing an American-Made coat for $40.00 at Brandywine Harley-Davidson of Chadds Ford before the ride begins. These American-Made coats are custom-produced for Operation Warm, and are of the highest quality and reflect the most current styles and colors.
Martha Grieco, organizer from Riddle Hospital said, “It is the highlight of my year to be part of this annual event and actually riding on a motorcycle! Being able to provide the new and stylish coats to kids, zip them up and see their smiles of gratitude, is a not-to-miss opportunity for anyone who supports this effort. Knowing we are helping our families right here in DELCO is the winning factor.”
Operation Warm serves children in need across the United States. Sadly, 16.5 million children live in poverty in the United States, including 188,000 in the Delaware Valley. “This is a program that strengthens communities and the overall well-being of children,” stated Carey Palmquist, Executive Director at Operation Warm. “A new coat allows families to stretch limited financial resources to other basic necessities, such as food and shelter.” To find out how you can help, visit www.operationwarm.org.
About Hannum’s Harley-Davidson
Hannum’s Harley-Davidson has been a family-owned and operated business since it first opened its doors on Chester Pike in Crum Lynne in 1954. As the business expanded, the store was relocated to its current location in Media in 1959; a second location, Brandywine Harley-Davidson of Chadds Ford was added in 2000. Family truly is at the heart of Hannum’s Harley-Davidson. Tom Jr. was an avid racer and motorcycling enthusiast with a great respect for the American iconic brand, Harley-Davidson.
