Operation Warm Will Provide Over 4,000 Coats In The Boston Area
For Immediate Release
BOSTON, MA –
Operation Warm with the support of its funders will provide over 4,000 new winter coats to children in need living in the Boston area. Mayor Menino will join dozens of beneficiary organizations at the FedEx hub in South Boston for the coat distribution.
According to Celina Miranda, Charitable Giving Manager at BNY Mellon “ (We) have partnered with Operation Warm since 2005, which has made it possible for thousands of Boston’s most vulnerable children to have a new coat each winter. Although this may at first glance seem like a simple mission, at BNY Mellon we believe that creating a safety net is a first step in fostering our communities’ greatest potential.”
Operation Warm will partner with thirty-one agencies in the greater Boston area. These selected beneficiaries will serve children in a multitude of ways, but are classified as schools and community based organizations. Through the partnerships with these agencies, 4,100 children in need will receive new winter coats.
Bay Cove Human Services is one of the nearly thirty organizations receiving coats this year. According to Candace Chang, Director of Child and Family Services Division, “The Early Intervention program serves many families with young children who are living in poverty. Although we do not provide financial support or material goods to families, it is wonderful to be able to occasionally help with things such as winter coats for families who are otherwise unable to provide this for their children.”
